The “Big-Löffel” primarily functions as consolidation and support of slopes and
terraced land. Characteristics The “Big-Löffel” has all the excellent features of
the well proven Löffel. Moreover, it offers additional advantages: it allows for an elevated height of construction, less elements per cubic metre are needed so that
the laying takes less time, there is more space to plant the vegetation.

Concave bends (towards the interior): determine the turning radius with regard to the concerned spaces in-between by using the diagram. Then lay the first line of elements with a distance of x (in centimetres). In order to determine this last number one must bear in mind that for a given radius always the smallest distance must be chosen. Convex bends (towards the exterior): determine the smallest possible radius and continue with the laying of the first line of elements with the largest possible distance. There are also special elements in order to realise bends of 90° with a reduced radius for walls with convex bending.

It is possible to construct consolidations of slopes with an inclination ranging from 25° to 75°. In case of little pronounced inclinations the elements must rest on those of the subjacent line with a minimal profundity of 10 cm.

Foundation The kind of fundament is determined by the conditions of the bedrock and the height of the wall to construct. At the bottom of the wall there must bean adequate drainage.
Static Features
The shape of the elements “Big Löffel” and their concatenation make it possible to realise fortifications of slopes which excel in their static coefficient: the achieved static degree is equivalent to the one of a continuous wall structure even though the construction with Löffel-elements consistsof separate blocks without mortar. If you would like to construct fortifications of slopes with prefabricated “Big Löffel” elements, we advise
you to carry out a preventative investigation with regard to the static features: actually, the maximal possible height of the slope varies depending on
the kind of fundament, the dimension of the surface which is susceptible to load, the inclination of the construction and the specific characteristics of the materials used to fill the back side. It is also possible to realise fortification walls with reticulate tension rods (armaterra) in orderto resolve problems of most critical situations; in this regard please contact our engineering department.
Laying
As in case of the “Löffel”, one starts with the first line of elements, which are contemporaneously filled with mould, by leaving open a space of ca. 40 cm between the single elements (exception: bends, see diagram). In case of particularly high slopes it may be necessary touse special blocks for the lower parts of the wall (normal and special blocks can be combined). Then the elements are laid line by line and
simultaneously filled; at the same time, also the drained layer of gravel is put at the back of the wall. It is important to highlight that, at any rate,
the blocks must be perfectly horizontal. In case of a traverse gradient with regard to the wall a cascaded slope is necessary, which also the blocks must follow. Connections with wall Constructions
For Connections of wall constructions there is a special connecting element available.
Vegetation The insertion of vegetation can be carried out freely and in consideration of the purpose the consolidations of profiles or slopes or walls mayserve.

ALVEOLAR VEGETAL WALL type BIG LÖFFEL
Delivery and installation of compressed concrete elements type “BIG-LÖFFEL” for the realisation of retaining walls or walls of gravity, which are
self-blocking, self-draining, alveolar, vegetal. The elements are shaped like a spoon with a footprint of 57x75 cm, a bicorn front of 35 cm
maximum height and lateral faces of circa 27 cm height; each element weighs ca. 120 kg. The wall is realised due to the superposition of
concrete elements, which are alternately clamped by the lateral faces and fronts. They are adapted for containing the filling material.
The rear filling and all other kinds of work necessary for the regular construction of the wall are commissioned.
Characteristics of the concrete: - Compression: average resistance 40N/cubic millimetre (400kg/cubic centimetre) - permeabilità: penetrazione massima 17 mm, secondo UNI EN 12390/8 - classe di esposizione: XC3 - classe XF4 e XF3 available on request
